Anthony's Pick

As requested by Anthony, (he has been asking for a little "airtime"), so here we go!

A musician he discovered a little while back:

Rehab
by Amy Winehouse

Check it out here.

My personal opinion, (if I'm allowed): great song and voice but freaky video and lyrics... overall, I like it!

Where does the time go??

So, it amazes me that this is the first time since we have been back from our trip that I've had time to update my blog. I have no idea why it takes me so long to get back on track. As most of you know, I am a pretty efficient and effective person when it comes to getting stuff done but geee, you'd think we've been gone for a few months, not 1 week! And yes, you guessed it, this will only be a short posting as I have to do a little writing/editing for Big6 before bedtime. Never-the-less, we made it home safe and sound and had a GREAT time visiting family and friends. And a special thanks to all the Brady's for their kindness and hospitality (we'll see if they ever invite us back)! :)

And Meg, I still owe you for the Denny's trip...

Got to run now but more highlights to come!

PS- In case anyone is wondering, I love my new car. Eeerrr, I mean mini-van!!

Word Beads

A teacher at my school does this every week with her students. It's kinda cool! The task is to use the following 5 words in a sentence, story, or poem. The writing piece must demonstrate that you know the definitions of each word and it must make sense. You are able to change the words (vanish = vanished, appreciate = appreciates) and the words may be used in any order. The teacher gets the words out of the book that she is currently reading to the class.

VANISH
APPRECIATE
SURPRISE
VINTAGE
MILKMAN

Here's mine:

I was so embarrassed that I wanted to vanish. I couldn't believe how vintage the milkman was... I appreciate that he is old, but just yesterday, the milkman was a cute, young thing. Much to my surprise, I opened the door today, ready to ask him for a date, but there stood the vintage guy!

Try it, it's fun!
Kim K- I want to see what Danny comes up with!

Five on Friday

This is another thing that the same teacher does every Friday. She, however, requires complete sentences.

ROSES ARE RED

1. What is your favorite red food?
Strawberries, Pasta and sauce, Red Licorice
2. Do you own any red clothing?
Yup, I'm wearing my red sweater right now. And I have the coziest pair of red pajamas (thanks to Anthony)!
3. Name one item you can see right now that is red.
A red toy fire truck.
4. Have you ever run a stop sign or red light?
Oh yes...
5. Do you ever get so angry that you "see red"?
No, I never "see red" but I've been known to get pretty pissed off!

We got a ...

new car!

Hello Nissan Quest and Good Bye Honda CRV...

Yes, we did it- "crossed the line" and purchased ourselves a good 'ole minivan (although I won't let A call it that). I must say, it is SO nice! Black with black tinted windows, gray interior, and it does actually look pretty slick- if that is possible! The kids LOVE it and Logan is especially excited to have his friends "go on trips with us." It rides real smooth, handles well, and is super quiet. I especially love the automatic power doors and back lift-gate- whoo-hoo!

So, friends who also own minivans- I'm now part of your clan!
And for those who don't- I don't want to hear about it! :)

My Le

My Lo

A Poem

Knee, knee, my good old right knee,
Why do you always swell up on me?

For years of my life,
you didn't cause strife.

Then out of nowhere,
the pain is right there!

Soreness and swelling,
I'm gonna start yelling!

Arthritis at Thirty...
Is just down right dirty!

Doctors, Pills, and even an X-Ray,
I hope that one day,
My pain goes away.

By Laura, with the help of Anthony.

To buy or not to buy...

So, I am really wanting a new car... Yes, I love my Honda CRV but I really need more space (and no, we are not having any more kids!). Logan wants to have his friends over from school and we just don't have any room for an extra car/booster seat. We can only fit 4 people in the car so it is tough when my in-laws come visit or when Meg is in town. I have been looking around and here are my thoughts. I really DO NOT want a huge SUV such as an Expedition or Denali- they are just way to big and out of our price range! I have been looking at the mid-sized SUVs with the third row option. Some of them are okay but they really are cramped and there is not a lot of space. Plus my options are a bit limited. So, should I go for the mini-van? I really like the Honda Odyssey, Toyota Sienna, and Nissan Quest. And they are pretty good for the price you pay. BUT I just don't know if I am ready to take that leap, to go that route. Help! Advice needed! Kim, Karen, and Sarah- I know you all love your vans. Is it worth it? Owning a mini-van? Being "that Mom"... please let me know! You all know me, once I get something in my mind, I want to act fast. I am thinking of going and test driving this week. I'll keep you posted...

Questions About my Kids?

LEAH
1. Why does she refuse to wear her new cute snowsuit? I mean, REFUSE- scream and cry, yell "No, I hate snowsuit"...
2. Why does she sometimes tantrum if you even look at her the wrong way?
3. Why is she obsessed with the color pink? I certainly am not.
4. Why does she out of the blue say, "I love you guys. You're my favorite."?
5. Why does she sing and dance like it's her job when no one is looking but stops as soon as she sees you peeking at her?

LOGAN
1. Why does he call me "Laura"?
2. Why does he constantly ask to have his friends over? Am I that boring that he doesn't want to play with me?????
3. Why is he obsessed with cars, trucks, trains, Superman, Spiderman, and how things work?
4. Why does he run around ALL DAY and still has more energy than A and myself put together?
5. Why is he fascinated with real things like planets, weather, volcanoes, and machines?

Because they're 2 and 4? That's why?

Highlights of Trip to Mission Ridge

1. Deer in the front yard!
2. Skiing- Logan is amazing. He can now turn and stop.
3. Sledding- what fun!
4. Leavenworth- cute little city is what Logan calls it.
5. Car ride- actually was great! We all enjoyed family sing along time!
6. Again, fun with family and friends.
